Cyber Security Tip to Strengthen Your Password

There are certain applications and websites that you use on a regular basis. Do you cringe every time that application you are logging in to says, “Time to Change Your Password”?  Most people do. Trying to figure out a new password AND remember it is a challenge to almost everyone trying to practice better cybersecurity.
One thing you can do to help make your password more secure is to make it longer. Passwords that are only 4 or 5 characters long can be cracked by hackers in seconds. The strongest passwords are now 8 to 12 characters long and contain capital and lower case letters, numbers and characters. If the system you’re using allows it, upwards of 15 characters provides even better protection.

The Low Code Revolution-Part 2

Why use low code development platforms?

Many businesses are transforming themselves through digitization. The introduction of new technologies, increasing demands from stakeholders to respond quickly to a constantly changing market conditions, and a scarcity of highly skilled resources are placing tremendous pressure on IT organization to rapidly deliver digital transformation services.  Many IT organizations are turning to low code development platforms to respond to these challenges.

What the experts are saying

The 2018 Digital Transformation Readiness Survey conducted by DevOps.com and sponsored by Appian outlined many of the challenges IT organizations face. Many of the AD&D professionals surveyed reported that they felt understaffed and overwhelmed when it came to delivering the software required to support the transformations they are planning.

Gartner Survey on digital business  -  "While IT delivery is still a responsibility of the CIO, achieving revenue growth and developing digital transformation were identified most often as top business priorities for organizations in 2018. If CIOs want to remain relevant, they need to align their activities with the business priorities of their organizations."

McKinsey article on B2B Digital Leadership - “Digitization has made providing consistent, high-quality customer interactions a competitive differentiator, no matter the channel.”

Low code development platforms enable IT to become more responsive to the needs of the business by providing a platform that allows powerful enterprise apps to be easily and quickly developed and launched.  The result is the ability to swiftly transform concepts into solutions that are innovative and not disruptive.

The Low Code Revolution

What is Low Code No Code application development?

If you are involved in software application development, IT Solutions, and delivery, you’ve most likely heard of low code no code software application development.

Fundamentally, these platforms provide an iterative, super-fast approach to software delivery that requires little or no coding.  The platforms enable screens and logic to be developed quickly and shared, providing valuable feedback to stakeholders very early in the design process.

Low-code platforms require some coding which means that some level of technical knowledge and coding expertise is required. These platforms are primarily used by IT organizations to speed up software application delivery. They provide an advantage over no code platform since they permit software developers to add new functionality, connect to internal systems and external services, extending functionality beyond the capabilities of the platform.

What is Facial Recognition Technology

Facial recognition is the least intrusive and fastest growing fields of biometric technology. Biometrics in general is the body’s measurements and calculations – the metrics of the human body and characteristics.  The study of the body’s measurements and relationships goes back throughout human kind, but the technology to quantify it has been significantly advanced by current technology.
There are several forms of biometric technology
  • Retinal and/or Iris scans
  • Fingerprint recognition
  • Palm scan
  • DNA matching
  • Facial Recognition
Focusing on Facial Recognition, with the latest developments in technology, systems are now able to identify a person’s face and verify who that face belongs to from any digital image.

Rapid Development in IT Business Solutions

Rapid development is a highly iterative software project development methodology that is more innovative, more agile, with less documentation, and a higher level of collaboration.  Following a rapid development approach, the project team looks for tasks that can be done in parallel and completed quickly. For example – grouping modules together based on their functionality and developing them in parallel instead of sequentially across several Sprint cycles.

To successfully implement Rapid Development, the project team must concentrate on several critical areas: https://www.pamten.com/single-post/2017/06/06/The-Need-for-Speed-Rapid-Development

Vulnerability Assessment for Small Business

Many hackers like going after small businesses because those organizations are surprisingly vulnerable. Restaurants, retail stores, cleaning companies, even home-based businesses keep a large amount of valuable data about their customer’s homes, habits, financial information, and interests as well as the transaction details from the actual sales. The businesses use it for monthly mailers and promotions, while hackers would use it for identity and material theft.
